General Information:

Prior to beginning Norris Architecture, Brad Norris worked as an Architect in the Nashville are for over 12 years. His experience was widely varied including high end custom residential projects, retail, educational, multifamily, religious, and commercial office buildings. This kaleidoscope of experience developed in Brad the basic skills necessary to produce a successful project of any type. Additionally, he gained a comprehensive understanding of various client types and their corresponding distinctive client needs. Brad observed the need for flexibility and fluidity in the offering of architectural services. It was with his learned experience and discernment of these needs in the architectural world that a vision was birthed in him that he could contribute to and make a difference in the architectural community as an entrepreneur.

Norris Architecture began in September of 2003 with one primary goal in mind. To serve our clients. The result of this objective is a practice that is remarkably flexible in method of project delivery. We approach every project with the understanding that each client is unique and brings a dintinctive sets of skills, knowledge and personal history to the table. With this understanding it is our goal to make the methodology and services provided fit the needs of our clients rather than asking our clients to fit a predetermined model for us.

Since its inception a large percentage of our practice at Norris Architecture has been dedicated to high end custom residential projects for both owners and builders ranging in size from 1,000 to 20,000 sqft. These projects have afforded us the opportunity to gain skills in managing and coordinating highly complex projects while keeping a constant eye on ending with a beautiful result, meeting or exceeding our clients exacting desires. The repeated return and referrals of these clients stands as the best testament we have to the achievement of our ideals.

We have also had the opportunity to work with builders and developers in many of the neo traditional developments in the Nashville area to develop floor plans and elevations for a variety of homes. Remarks that our designs tend to be some of the best in these neighborhoods have been validated by strong and quick sales.

Our commercial work has also generated the appreciation of satisfied clients who have become repeat clients. This work includes the mixed use development of Edgehill Village which incorporates retail, restaurant, office, and residential components set in the heart of the music row area of Nashville. We are currently working with the same developer to rehab a warehouse on Charlotte Avenue in Nashville into office space for multiple tenants catering primarily to executives of the music industry.

In the five years since Norris Architecture began, our growth due to our clients’ satisfaction, has been greater than expected. We have worked hard to keep the growth steady and purposeful. The staff we have is of exceptional quality embodying a pursuit of thoroughness and dedication to quality.

About Brad Norris:

A native of north Alabama, Brad Norris grew up playing in the woods of Monte Sano State Park where he developed an early love for our natural environment and an awe for its diversity. It was the beauty and grandeur of that forest that first inspired Brad compelling him to translate what he had witnessed as the greatest of all designs into the built environment. He soon learned that the same diversity he marveled at in the environment also existed in architecture’s amazing history. He discovered that all great buildings, regardless of their style or period, have the same fundamental desire for human expression inspired by the beauty we find around us. Immersing himself in architectural history, Brad has been mining from it the wealth of expression there while keeping his eye on the future to find new possibilities and means of expression. This has resulted in an architect that is not bound to a single style or period nor constrained by modern or traditional ideologies. Brad’s love for people and conviction that great design is a fluid and evolutionary process creates in him a man highly responsive to his clients’ needs and desires. Leading them through the process of creating a home tailored to their specific needs and desires results in an environment full of character and beauty rooted in the only tradition that really matters.
